Your First Visit
Your first visit will consist of a detailed comprehensive orofacial examination to help us determine the baseline status of your current orofacial health. It is very important to establish your baseline, identify your risk factor(s) for disease, and implement any needed changes for optimal health at your initial visit. This will allow us to better track changes in your health in the years to come.
What to expect at your first dental visit:
- Detailed Medical and Dental History Review – bring your most current medication list and your dental homecare tools
- Update of Dental X-rays (unless you have requested a release of recent X-rays from another provider prior to your visit)
- Oral Cancer Screening
- Soft Tissue Exam (including muscles)
- Periodontal Evaluation (gums and supporting bone of teeth)
- Hard Tissue Exam (Teeth, Bones & Joints)
- *Dental Hygiene- as time permits, a hygiene visit may also be completed at your initial visit or will be scheduled for a separate visit.
- In addition, the type of hygiene visits and the frequency you need will be determined after your initial examination.
This initial comprehensive examination will allow us to establish your baseline, identify your risk factors and current needs, as well as provide us with the information we need to develop your individualized treatment plan and preventative recommendations. We hope that you are a patient at our office for generations, and we do not take it lightly that you have chosen us for your care.
What to bring to your first visit:
- Your most up-to-date medication list
- Your current dental homecare tools

- Your identification card (drivers license or other id with photo)
- Any prior X-rays requested
